Romans 1:5-6

I recently downloaded a Bible study authored by Tim Keller on the Epistle of Romans. It is available as a PDF download from www.redeemer.com at the online store. I found the study on Galatians tremendously beneficial and could not wait to dive into Romans.

First lesson, Paul writes verses 5-6:
“…Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ….”

Keller’s note on this passage:
The result of this gospel: “The gospel, when embraced by faith, somehow causes an obedience to God. (The obedience that comes from faith.)”

This is such a simple statement but often overlooked by professing Christians. Faith in the work of Christ

somehow

produces obedience. If you are not obedient to God please look to see where your faith is lacking.
